Animating Liturgical Music
This course is aimed for adults involved in liturgical music animation or those interested in this ministry so that they enrich their knowledge and practice in this field. They will appreciate more what animation is and acquire the necessary skills required for this ministry.
Participants will:
- reflect on the definition of liturgical music animation and the elements it contains
- reflect on the aspects of the role of a liturgical music animator within the reality of a liturgical assembly
- become aware of the musical and singing abilities required
- learn about the seasons of the liturgical year and the respective repertoire
- discuss the role of technology in liturgical music animation
The course will concentrate on the animation of Eucharist celebration and other moments of prayer like the liturgy of the hours and Eucharistic adoration.
Students will learn and discuss the theoretical side of the topics and pass-on to practical exercises in each session, in preparation for the final practical seminar and viva voce assignment.
Animating Liturgical Music leads to a certificate at AFF level 3 of the Archdiocese of Malta and is spread over six sessions.
